To keep Behance free of spam and bots, we apply automated limits to a number of actions,
including:
- Sending messages
- Appreciating (liking) projects
- Posting comments
- Applying to freelance jobs / publishing projects
If your account sends an unusually high volume of one of these actions in a short period,
that specific feature is temporarily restricted. This is a site-wide, automated protection,
not a manual review of your account — it is not the same as a Community Guidelines violation.
You'll typically see an in-product message such as:
"Appreciating has been restricted on your account."
"Unable to send message at this time."
What to expect
- The restriction applies to one action at a time (e.g., just appreciations, or just
messaging) — it does not disable your whole account. - It resets automatically, typically within 24 hours.
- Other parts of your account (viewing projects, browsing search, managing your portfolio)
continue to work normally.
If the restriction doesn't lift, or you believe it was a mistake
Contact Behance Support with:
- A link to your profile
- The approximate date/time you first saw the restriction
- Which action is restricted (messaging, appreciating, commenting, job applications)
We'll review your account and remove the restriction if it was applied in error.
My project disappeared from search / I can't be found as a collaborator
If your account (or a co-owner's account) has an active restriction, affected content can
also be temporarily excluded from search results until the restriction clears — this is the
same system described above, not a separate bug. Projects reappear automatically once the
restriction lifts.
My account was suspended / disabled entirely
This is different from the temporary action-level restrictions above. A full account
suspension happens when a profile, project, or linked website is flagged as spam, fraudulent,
or in violation of our Community Guidelines. If this
happens, you'll receive an email explaining the reason and how to request a review.
