Most clients find freelancers through Hire, not through For You or the Featured galleries. To show up there, you need to be set up to take freelance work on Behance. Here's how the client side works and what you can do to be found.
How clients see Behance
Behance looks different depending on whether you joined as a creative or a client (hirer). You can switch anytime from the menu under your profile picture.
| Creatives | Clients | |
|---|---|---|
| After signing in | For You feed | Hiring Dashboard |
| Main menu | Explore and Jobs | Dashboard, then Hire Creatives: Browse Freelancers, Browse Services, and Post Job. Explore comes after. |
| Search | Standard results | Results that favor creatives who are available for freelance work |
| Boosted projects | Boosts with either goal | Only Boosts with the Hiring goal |
Visitors who aren't signed in start on Search. The Best of Behance and curated galleries are still under Explore, but most clients go to Hire first.
Get listed when clients browse freelancers
To appear in Browse Freelancers, you need:
- Freelance payments set up (Stripe or PayPal), or an active Behance Pro membership. Payments are available in these countries.
- Age 18 or older on your Adobe account. If your date of birth is missing, Behance treats the account as under 18.
Clients can still message you from your profile without these, but you won't appear in the list they browse.
Improve your placement
Placement is set automatically and changes with every search. These are the signals you control:
- Reply to hire requests quickly. Response time counts. Reply within a couple of days, even to say you're not available.
- Complete projects through Behance. Finished Behance projects build your record. Work arranged and paid elsewhere doesn't count.
- Turn on your availability. Set Hire Me to Freelance & Project Commissions so clients see the Hire Me button.
- List your Services. Clear titles, descriptions, and prices help clients browsing Services. See How do Freelance Services work?
- Keep your work current. Recent projects and activity in the last month count. Show the work you want to be hired for.
- Set your location. Clients can filter by location, so make sure your city is correct.
- Boost for hiring (Pro). Pick the Hiring goal when you boost a project so it reaches clients.
Good to know
- Featured isn't the same as Hire. Curators feature projects in Best of Behance and the galleries. A Featured project doesn't list you in Browse Freelancers.
- We can't place a profile manually. Placement is relative, so it shifts as other freelancers in your area complete work and update their profiles.
- Fewer inquiries overall? Hiring has slowed across the creative industry, and more clients are trying AI tools. A drop in messages isn't always about your profile.
